March 20 – With the men’s AFC U20 Asian Cup compleed at the the weekend the confederation is now turning its attention to the U20 women who are in the final stages of qualifying for finals in 2024 that will be played, liked the men’s, in Uzbekistan.
This week the AFC will hold the group draw for the eight remaining teams in qualifying. Two groups will be played at yet to be named centralised venues with the top two teams in each group qualifying directly to the finals next year.
The four qualifiers will be joined by the three highest-seeded teams from the AFC U-19 Women’s Championship Thailand 2019 – Japan, North Korea, and South Republic – as well as host nation, Uzbekistan.
The eight teams in the second round of group qualifying have already topped their groups in round one that was played March 6-12.
The second round will be played June 3-11. The seeding pots for the draw later this week are:
Pot 1: Australia and China PR
Pot 2: Vietnam and Myanmar
Pot 3: IR Iran and Nepal
Pot 4: Lebanon and Chinese Taipei
